Slowcoach is operated by Simon Minton, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, at getslowcoach.com. This page says what this website holds about you and what the app will hold when it is released. It is short because the data footprint is small, deliberately.
What this website collects
Two things, and only if you hand them over:
- The name you type into the hero. It is kept in your own browser
(
localStorage) so the page still knows you next time, and it is sent to this site’s own server so that Ren’s spoken greeting can be generated for it. The recorded greeting is stored against the lower-cased name for up to thirty days so that the next person with the same name costs nothing to greet. It is not attached to you, and if you never join the waitlist there is nothing here that identifies you. - Your name and email address, if you join the waitlist. Stored alongside the time you joined and your browser’s user-agent string, in Cloudflare Workers KV. That is the whole record.
What it is used for
The waitlist entry is used for exactly one thing: to email you once, when the app is available. There is no newsletter, no drip sequence, and no second email unless you write back and start one. Your address is never sold, rented, shared, or handed to an advertiser, because there is no advertising here to hand it to.
Analytics and cookies
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party scripts, and loads no fonts, images or code from anybody else’s server. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Who else touches it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the waitlist and the greeting audio. Cloudflare sees the usual request data any web host sees, including your IP address, which is also used for a simple hourly rate limit on the two endpoints. Waitlist records are not linked to an IP address.
- OpenAI turns the greeting sentence into speech. Only the sentence itself is sent, which contains the name you typed and nothing else. OpenAI states that API inputs are not used to train its models.
What the app will collect
The Slowcoach app is not released yet, and this policy will be extended before it is. The shape of it is already settled: with your permission the app reads sleep, resting heart rate, steps, body mass and strength workouts from Apple Health, together with the runs you do with it, and uses them to decide what each session should be and to explain that decision to you. That data is used for coaching and for nothing else. It is not sold, not shared, and not used to build an advertising profile. There is no social feed and no comparison against other users, so nothing you do is ever visible to another person.
How long it is kept
Waitlist entries are kept until the app is released and the announcement has gone out, and then deleted. Greeting audio expires automatically after thirty days. The name in your own browser is yours to clear at any time, either with the “Not my name” control on the front page or by clearing site data.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@getslowcoach.com and it will be done, in practice within a few days and in any case within one month. The lawful basis for holding a waitlist entry is your consent, given by submitting the form.
If you are not happy with the response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site and the app are meant for adults. Personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has joined the waitlist, email the address above and the entry will be removed.
Security and location
Everything is served over HTTPS and stored on Cloudflare’s network, which processes data in multiple countries including outside the UK, under Cloudflare’s own data protection terms. No method of storage is perfect, which is a good reason to hold as little as this does.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything material will be said plainly rather than buried.
